Creating animation is a fantastic way to see the students at work and show case the finished movie at your school. And thanks to Apple iPads and the free apps 'Stop Motion' and 'FlipaClip' it is now an inexpensive and easy process. Kids can work with one ipad per group of 2 to 4 students. A typical 50 minute to 1 hour workshop will set them up to build on their knew knowledge and make some great looking animations.
Whether in your art room or general class room - Cardy will need the use of a TV to plug in his iPad so students can follow along. A whiteboard is also helpful.
A Students will need to use an ipad (can share as a group of 2-4) and the preinstalled app 'Stop Motion' (please note their is a free version that has a blue icon or the payed version with the purple icon. The paid version is around $10 and is crammed with great features like adding Titles, credits, Music and SFX. It is a once off payment.) For 2D animation please install 'FlipaClip'.
Stop Motion is a free version app for the iPad. With this app installed on school ipads - students can work in pairs or up to 4 in a group. I can supply plasticine. In this fun workshop students will learn the following:

2D animation with FlipaClip on the iPad is a lot of fun. It's even better using an apple pencil (or cheaper alternative) for more precise drawing. In this fun workshop students will learn the following:

Storyboards are a lot of fun and very necessary for movie process. A director has the vision for what the film will look like and this is accomplished through a story board artist. The students become both Director and Storyboard Artist and let their imaginations run wild after being taught some simple sketch techniques.
This 1 hour session will include:
1. Learning simples sketch techniques
2. Leaning Camera Angles
3. Sample Storyboard fun - drawing together.
